Nissan's Green Business-Eco Pedal

With the sales of cars keep falling down all around the world, car manufactures have to be really serious about the way to reduce carbon dioxide from emission and global warming. They might have to change their management strategies such as the technology to increase fuel efficiency to suvive in five years.

Nissan is going to commercialize its world first eco pedal system that aims reduce CO2 consumption during 2009. What is unique about this fuel-efficient technology is that whenever the driver steps on the accelarator with the amounts more than required, a counter push-back control mechanism is acctivated and informs the driver that they could be using more fuel than needed.

An eco-driving indicator provides the driver with real-time fuel consumption levels to help driver's behaivior, and the Eco Pedal system can be turned on or off according to the driver's preference.

Research conducted by Nissan has shown that by using the ECO Pedal drive system, drivers can improve fuel effiency by 5-10%, depending upon driving conditions. In order to accomplish the reduction in CO2 emission, Nissan takes a triple-layer solution that encompass vehicle technologies, driving behavior and traffic conditions.

Nissan's environmetal roadmap aims at developing new technologies, products and services that can lead to real-world reductions in vehicle CO2 emissions, cleaner emissions, and recycling of resources (reffered in part from JapaneseSportsCars.com).

Nissan-Safty Shields

Nissan is enhancing safty technologies based upon the new concept, "Comprehensive protection to help avoid dangerous situations and restore safe driving conditions".

Safety Shield classifies driving risks and accidents into six area from "risk has not yet appeared" to "post-crash." to implement technologies that function as effective barriers against potential danger fators that occur under various conditions and thereby prevent more dangerous situation from developing.

Nissan aims to halve the number of fatal and serious injuries from accidents involving Nissan vehicles in Japan by 2015 compared with 1995. Based on analysis of real-world accidents, Nissan has been working progressively to design and engineer safer vehicles.(from Nissan website)

Nissan's these technologies to help protect vehicle occupants in side and rear collisions with all-round sensors. The latest additions include side collision prevention (SCP) and back-up collision prevention (BCP). These work in tandem with existing distance control assist and lane departure prevention systems to offer what Nissan calling its "safety shield" concept.

With SCP, when the driver decides to change lanes, the side-mounted sensors activate a warning if an approaching vehicle is detected in the driver's intended lane. A yaw mechanism is then activated through brake control of individual wheels to help prevent a potential collision. (referred from professional engineering)

The Mechanical Pensil in Japan

Japanese mechanical pensils are very unique and inovative. The reason for that is that there are about five different makers exist in Japan and they are so competive from each other to survive even inside the country. Famous makers are Mitsubishi,Pentel,Sharp,Tombow, and such.

Japanese kids usually grow up using many different mechanical pensils with different makers ever since they are elementary school, and it will become so useful when they have to solve math problems. Like other products in Japan, mechanical pencil was imported from oversee,it was first invented in Britain in 1822 by Samson Mordan, and have been improved ever since by those different makers.

Torasan "It is tough being a man"

If you are interested in anything Japanese it is better to konw Japanese word called "ninjyo", 人情,whichi could be translated into human-warmth or tender feeling. The concept of ninjyo comes from Japanese good old days, Edo period(1603-1867) or even before when the unity inside society was most respected. You are supposed to behave based on "ninjyo" in those days.

Torasan is a man of ninjyo. Torasan is a Japanese film series starring Kiyoshi Atsumi, a kind-heated vagabond who is always unlucky in love. Spanning 48 installments (1969-95), it was considered by the Guniness Book of World Records to be the longest movie series in the world back then.

All the Torasan movies had same basic plot. Torasan, a traveling salesman, arrives in some remote town planning to peddle his wares to the locals. He meets a local woman, usually a damsel in distress, and tells her that if she is ever in Tokyo to look him up. He then heads back home to Shibamata, Katsushika, Tokyo and drops in unexpectedly on his family who run a traditional sweet shop. Sure enough, the damsel in distress ends up visiting Torasan in Tokyo, and he falls madly in love with her. However, in his shy efforts to win her heart, he usually ends up inadvertently helping bring her together with an old boyfriend or another man. Torasan invariably ends up heartbroken at the end of the movie. Each film featured a different leading lady, and a different rgion of Japan.

If you are interested in getting to know true Japanese this movie "Torasan, it is tough being a man" would be ideal. I myself really love this series, and would like people in the world to watch this movie. I would say that Torasan is a heart of Japanese people and society. You might find anything which you are looking for.

Nintendo is stronger than ever

On August 29th, Nintendo raised its profit outlook for this fiscal year based upon strong sales of Wii and DS. It seemed that Kyoto-based game machine company, Nitendo is showing more confident than ever compared to its rivals such as Sony and Microsoft in the dominace of global game machine industry. Despite the fact that PlayStation's powerfull brandname, Tokyo-based company, Sony's game business only retured to proft.

I believe that the reason for Wii's such a big hit is due to its concept which is to try to appeal away from hardcore gamers toward a family audience. According to Nintendo's game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, the concept involved focusing on a new form of player interaction.

Nintendo has attributed the success of the Wii to the idea presented in the business strategy book Blue Ocean Starategy. Key factors of the Wii reflect the Six Path Framework described within the book. It is belived that they include "price","movie playing","graphics","physics","fun","game library", and "magic wnad". Applying the Four Actions Framework would eliminate movie playing , reduce graphics and physics, raise fun and the game library, and lead to the creation their "magic wand": the Wii Remote. Wii sounds like 'we', which emphasizes that the console is for everyone. Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion.
